How does it work?

How does it work?

Food waste is fed into the disposer together with water from the cold tap. The food waste is simply and quickly ground into fine particles, no knives and no blades. The food waste is then flushed through the waste disposer and into your normal system.

The IN-SINK-ERATOR food waste disposer is designed to cope with most types of food waste, including small bones, meat, fish, peelings, eggshells, nuts and much, much more.

Food waste disposers are designed for food waste only and packaging materials should not be put into the disposers.

FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

-How do waste disposers work?

Food is ground into small particles and then discharged through the normal waste pipe. Cold water into the sink helps the grinding and flushing process. The waste disposer is activated by a simple switch; and air switch is available for more convenience.

-What can I put in the Disposer?

General food waste such as vegetable peelings, rinds and cores, small fish and chicken bones, egg shells, and other food leftovers; they are not intended for non food waste and large bones or mollusc shells. If one of these items is mistakenly put in the Disposer, remove with tongs.

-If it breaks down, can I still use my sink?

Yes. In the unlikely event of a problem, you can still use you sink in the normal way and the water will drain as before.

-How do I maintain my Disposer?

In-Sink-Erator units are designed and built so that no regular maintenance is required. Simple and easy to use.

-Can I use one if I have a septic tank?

Yes. This is not a problem.

-Are they easy to install?

Each unit comes with detailed instructions and can normally be installed by any reasonably competent DIY person. A universal plumbing kit is available and contains all the additional pipes and joints that you are likely to need. If in doubt, In Sink Erator maintains a national network of qualified Service Agents who would be delighted to install you unit. Please call 0800 389 3715.

-Are they safe?

In-Sink-Erator Waste Disposers are designed and built to the most rigorous standards and are perfectly safe to use in the normal way. They do not use knives or blades and the grinding assembly is deep in the unit.

-What happens if it jams?

They rarely do, but correcting it is very simple. Each In-Sink-Erator unit comes with a simple tool that manually releases any jammed material.

-How reliable are they?

Every unit comes with a minimum two year warranty, covering in-home replacement of all parts and labour, but it is rare for any unit to require attention during the warranty period. It is not unusual for us to hear of In-Sink-Erator units that are continuing to give trouble free service after 25 years or more!

-What about the environment?

Kitchen waste disposers are an environmentally supportive method of waste disposal that reduces the need for landfill and incineration. The organic matter, collected at sewerage treatment facilities, is recycled to provide an important source of fertiliser.

-How noisy are they?

Most people are pleasantly surprised at how quiet an In-Sink-Erator unit is. They are in fact quieter than most food mixers.

-Are they easy to use?

Just turn on the water, switch on and it only takes seconds.

-Do I need a special sink?

Most modern sinks come with a large diameter waste hole and are ideal for a waste disposer. Those with a small hole require a waste reducer which can be purchased separately.
